Putting It All Together

Last week, we started our presentation! Disclaimer: We wanted to put all our information together in one area (not purely for TED talk). After doing a bunch of research on the drought and gathering the results from our survey, we felt that we had enough information to begin putting something together. We still have some more work to do; we plan on interviewing students so we have more opinions about the drought from the public. By finding out what the majority of the community doesn't know about the drought and its effects, it's easier to figure out what sort of information we need put into our presentation. We don't want to ramble on about topics that people are already familiar with; we want to teach them something new and give them something to take away from our presentation. For example, from the survey we found that most people understand the effects of global warming on the drought so we've been focusing on the effects of agriculture on the drought. The only problem that we've really had is managing time. We haven't necessarily fallen behind schedule but we definitely feel the pressure of the short amount of time we have left to finish our presentation.

  1. Hi! I like the direction of your project so far. I like that you guys are trying to focus on unconventional topics regarding the drought. What kind of questions you were planning to ask the students during the interview? You might get a lot of the same topics because most people agree that the drought is bad.

Good job and thanks for sharing!

  2. Sounds like you two are making progress :) I love how you've decided to focus on causations that people haven't heard before (looking forward to a explanation on the effects of agriculture on the drought!), and I completely understand the time-management conflict-- I have it too. Hope it all works out!

  3. I really like the fact that you aim to inform people! I've done some research on the drought too and found it interesting that it could be connected to the fact that we live in a Mediterranean climate and our climate is subject to shifts in water availability. Good luck on the rest of your project! I look forward to seeing the end results.

  4. I like that you are out to make people aware about the drought. I know Mrs. Aguayo is very aware of the drought, she could definitely help you out in an interview or something. Good luck with your presentation!

  5. This is such a cool idea and if you need anyone to interview id be gladly to help! Also our drought isn't gone yet but the rain helped restore our lakes for the time being.
